Ok so this has taken me way too long to write.
The trouble with this time of year is you start stressing that you’re quiet and don’t have enough work coming in, so madly do any marketing you can, and then all of a sudden boom!, so much floods in you forget where you were. But I have managed to finally sit down and write about my experience making jewellery for the stars.
So I had this amazing opportunity to create jewellery for the British Film Institute Awards and I got to go to the event. Someone who knew my jewellery thought that I would be perfect for the job, as my handmade British jewellery is so fitting with the BFI’s ethos.
I was privileged to make jewellery for some amazing Stars: Cate Blanchett, Sir Ian McKellen, Allen Leech, Kristin Scott-Thomas and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Personalized cufflinks, feather pendants and butterfly rings.
The evening started with my Husband and I at the lovely metropolitan hotel getting ready, such a luxury without a little one wanting to copy you doing your make up or dribbling on your outfit two minutes before you leave!
Then we were in a taxi to the Banqueting Hall, for drinks and canapés. We arrived had to walk down a red carpet with paparazzi, they knew we weren’t people to take photos of, but very surreal! Then we saw the real celebrities arriving. Such a fun night, supporting independent filmmakers and British talent.
We had a lovely sit down meal meeting some talented filmmakers (the funny thing is my husband is in the film industry so we had lots to talk about). And we had a winner on our table: The film Chevalier with the director Athina Rachel Tsangari won the Best Film Award. Very exciting.
Then we got to see the beautiful, funny and gracious Cate Blanchett. She was incredible and an actor who deserves the BFI Fellowship award. It was incredible to be a part of the evening and to know that Cate Blanchett and Sir Ian McKellen amongst others are proud owners of my jewellery.
Here’s some pictures of the night.
“This year, the BFI London Film Festival was proud to be able to present the actors, producers, artists, writers and directors who comprise its expert jury panels for the films in competition, with lovingly crafted silver jewellery provided by artist Kimberley Selwood. We are very select in terms of our thank you gifts and it is wonderful to be able to present a small selection of lovely items from British designers. Kimberley created beautiful bespoke cufflinks, pendants and rings which we were delighted to gift to our jurors and presenters who included Dame Kristin Scott Thomas, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Pawel Pawlikowski, Allen Leech, Sir Ian McKellen and BFI Fellowship recipient Cate Blanchett”
